SUMMARY:Executive Seminar + Panel Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Dynamic\, digital\, data-fueled: responding to distribution disruption\nPresented by Ian Heller \nWholesalers around the world – in every industry – are facing an unprecedent number of large-scale trends that threaten to disrupt the industry – including your company. These trends include artificial intelligence\, marketplaces like Amazon Business\, generational change among customers\, additive manufacturing (3D printing) and others. In this keynote\, wholesale veteran Ian Heller will describe the new leadership qualities and strategies you must understand and then build and nurture in order to adapt to this fast-changing and dynamic market. A 30-year veteran of wholesale distribution and a popular speaker\, writer and consultant\, Heller will challenge your paradigms about how to lead effectively and describe what you must do differently to “future proof” your company\, starting right now.

SUMMARY:Seminar by CECAPI
DESCRIPTION:Market Surveillance Support Initiative (MSSI-Electrical): a CECAPI initiative to have only safe products in the European market\nPresented by Matteo Gavazzeni and Óscar Querol \nCECAPI is the European Committee of Electrical Installation Equipment Manufacturers and represents nine national trade associations\, in turn representing almost 500-member companies with a combined sales turnover of 16\,1 Billion Euros and employing more than 120.000 employees. \nThe Market Surveillance Support Initiative (MSSI-Electrical) is a CECAPI initiative with the support of major industrial players including ABB\, Benedict\, Eaton\, Hager\, Legrand\, Schneider Electric and Siemens. Its main objective is to help eliminate unsafe and non-compliant electrical products in Europe to help protect people\, goods and property. \nThe goals are twofold: \n\nThe first one is to bring together manufacturers to agree and develop proactive actions / initiatives for ensuring optimum customer safety and product compliance with European directives to contribute both to safety for customers of electrical equipment and to fair competition among market operators. The intent is to develop an initiative that serves as a framework to achieve more effective market surveillance by the relevant national authorities across Europe.\nThe second goal is to foster the widest application of this new framework\, as defined above\, including through reporting unsafe or otherwise non-compliant products to the relevant national authorities. In particular\, this initiative would strive to:\n\n\n\n\nImprove market surveillance effectiveness and efficiency by contribution of all economic operators in European countries;\nConsolidate national reporting of unsafe or otherwise non-compliant products to national authorities under the umbrella of a European organization.

SUMMARY:Seminar by EuropeOn
DESCRIPTION:Electrical contractors: at the forefront of the green & digital transition\nPresented by Martin Bailey \nThe electrical contracting sector brings peoples’ homes\, offices\, transport and infrastructures to life. Ideally situated at the end of the value chain\, we are the necessary link between the industry and end-users. In order to successfully implement the green and digital transition in Europe\, we need to work closer with all actors of the value chain\, starting with electrical wholesalers. Many common topics will be discussed\, such as: new technologies\, productivity\, price volatility & product availability\, data access and so on.

SUMMARY:Seminar by Europacable
DESCRIPTION:No (CPR) compliance\, no (fire) safety\nPresented by Nicola Scirocco \nElectricity has become a vital part of everyday life over the past 100 years. However\, in addition to the benefits it brings\, electricity can also be dangerous if not managed properly. Every year\, about 5000 people in the EU die because of a residential fire. \nElectrical safety issues are mainly the result of an unsuitable design\, an inappropriate use of the installation or a lack of proper maintenance. More importantly\, poor and sub-standard electrics and fraudulent products are finding their way into the market\, increasing the risk of electrical safety issues. \nProducts’ and systems’ compliance with national and EU standards and regulations are essential for making Europe safer: all cables used in the European Union and permanently installed in any type of building are subject to the Construction Products Regulation (CPR). It is important that cables are compliant with the CPR\, to make sure that cables reflecting the appropriate CPR classification are used in buildings to assure the required level of fire safety. \nA recent study (May 2021) by Europacable\, in collaboration with the Fire Service Academy (partner in the EuroFSA)\, shows the difference in burning behavior of high-performance cables and basic-performance cables in a realistic environment. With the basic performance\, a fire propagates fast over the cables and\, when installed horizontal\, multiple burning droplets fall onto the floor and keep on burning. With the high performance\, a fire propagates slowly over the cables; indeed\, the fire is not propagated outside the affected section of the ignition source. The takeaway from the study is that a fire in the basic performance cables and in a furnished room can cause a rapid propagation of fire\, resulting in an impaired escape and fatal conditions within 5 – 7 minutes and a flashover within 7 to 8 minutes. \nThe test results emphasize the importance of the fire safety performance of cables. It must be prevented that cables or cables in electrical installation become the ignition source of a fire. Therefore\, it is important that cables in an electrical installation are designed\, installed\, used and maintained properly. But even in such circumstances\, fire propagation over the cables due to another ignition source must be prevented as well. The tests make it clear that\, using (basic) classes of cables not in line with required levels of fire safety increases the risk of electrical safety issues\, which can result in a fire or a fire propagation with unacceptable risks for the level of fire safety. \nCompliance with requirements is essential\, especially for Europe’s vulnerable citizens\, for whom – like the elderly – escaping is most often not a safe option. Specific for electrical fire safety\, the findings show the importance of ensuring that the appropriate cables\, according to Construction Products Regulation (CPR) requirements\, are used in the respective settings. The finding also shows the need for increased market surveillance activities by the authorities and an active contribution by all stakeholders.

SUMMARY:Presentation by ETIM
DESCRIPTION:ETIM: the journey to your destination\nPresented by Simon Barkes and Mary Shaw \nWith technologies quickly changing\, and the next-generation digitalized supply chain being the “new future”\, your business sits on the cusp for rapid expansion\, except for one hurdle: a set of good product descriptors that manufacturers\, wholesalers\, and customers can all share and understand. \nETIM is poised to be the practical solution for that hurdle. Simon and Mary will share the path that ETIM has taken\, the milestones reached along the way\, how it’s spread through so many countries\, and now beyond the EU borders\, to be an “oven ready” product for the industry’s new future.

SUMMARY:Opening Keynote + Panel Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Sustainability and leadership on the entire electrical wholesalers’ value chain\nPresented by Jean-Gilles Burioni \nWorking in ”silos” could be only economically beneficial for the ”silos” on a short-term perspective. In a sustainable program we are looking for environmental and social benefits for the entire value chain of a business. The aim is to ensure long term return and have a positive impact on the environment (bigger than the silos\, isn’t it?). To reach such goals\, leadership practices should be adapted from corporate practice to local management. The economical restitution will come after the implementation of these sustainable considerations. Flowing through the entire chain\, we will explore means to move from what has been already done to the next level.
